NCAA Division III Week - Paul Harris Wins First Men's Title

During 1984, Paul Harris scored UW-Oshkosh’s first individual title at the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship.

Harris won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.78 seconds. He remains the only swimming national champion in school history.

The Titans finished 27th in the team standings at their first NCAA meet. Prior to 1984, UW-Oshkosh competed in the NAIA.

Harris added three more All-America finishes at the 1985 NCAA Division III Championship. He clocked school-record times while finishing second in both the 50-yard freestyle (20.73) and the 100-yard freestyle (45.0).

With the help of a seventh-place result (51.12) by Harris in the 100-yard butterfly, UW-Oshkosh took 18th place at the 1985 event.

Harris also won WIAC titles in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races during 1985.
