Kujawa Inducted Into USTFCCCA Hall of Fame

NEW ORLEANS- Elizabeth (Woodworth) Kujawa was inducted into the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Hall of Fame on Thursday afternoon (May 18).

"Titan Athletics is very proud of Elizabeth. She was a consistently positive presence on our track and field and cross country teams and was a great leader.", said Darryl Sims, the Assistant Chancellor, Athletics.

Kujawa, a member of the 2018 UW-Oshkosh Hall of Fame Class, joins five other Titan Hall of Famers in the USTFCCCA Division III Three Hall of Fame; Melanie Mueller (Class of 2004), Laura (Horejs) Lambert (Class of 2006), Stephanie (Bostwick) Resch (Class of 2007), Melissa Oleson (Class of 2010) and Robyn Jarocki-Hughes (Class of 2017). Deb Vercauteren, who coached UWO's women's cross country team from 1981-2010 and the women's track and field team from 1982-2009 and is a member of UW-Oshkosh's Hall of Fame, was inducted into the USTFCCCA's Coaches Hall of Fame in 2006.

Over her career between 2000 and 2004, Kujawa was a 12-time All-American in track and field, including nine national titles and a three-time All-American in cross country.

Kujawa placed second at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship in both 2003 and 2004 and won three consecutive national indoor and outdoor 800-meter titles from 2002-2004 as well as the 1,500-meter outdoor title in 2004. Her final two national titles came as a member of the indoor distance medley relay squad in 2002 and 2004.

In her first year competing for UWO, Kujawa helped the Titans secure the 2000 WIAC and regional cross country titles. UWO also placed fourth at the national meet that season. In both the 2003 and 2004 seasons, she placed first in every meet she competed in besides the NCAA Championship, where she took home two second place finishes. The team finished fourth at the 2004 Championship.

Kujawa also played an instrumental role in the Titans' 2004 indoor and outdoor national title runs. The UW-Oshkosh indoor 1,500-meter run and outdoor 3,200-meter relay school record holder played a part in 20 of the Titans' 56.5 points during the indoor meet and 20 of their school-record 80 points during the outdoor meet.

Kujawa's numerous individual accolades include 2004 Division III Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors, the 2002 and 2004 Midwest Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year awards, 2004 WIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in both cross country and track and field, and three consecutive CoSIDA (now College Sports Communicators) Academic All-America awards from 2003-05 in both indoor and outdoor track and field. A 2004 United States Olympic Team qualifier in the 1,500-meter run, the Marinette High School graduate was selected to the NCAA Division III Silver Anniversary Team in 2006 in addition to the WIAC All-Centennial Teams for cross country and track and field.

After graduating from UW-Oshkosh in 2005, Kujawa went on to compete at several USA Track & Field events, including National Club Cross Country in 2005 and 2006; Outdoor Track & Field Nationals in 2005, 2006 and 2007; and Cross Country 4K Nationals in 2006. In 2011, she served as the head women's cross country coach at UW-Oshkosh. She is currently an epic beaker analyst at ThedaCare and lives in Berlin with her husband, Joshua, and their children, Alyssa, Quinn and Elijah.
