WIAC Fall Semester COVID-19 Update

WIAC Fall Semester COVID-19 Update

Following a thorough evaluation of all COVID-19 risks and safety protocols, and numerous meetings involving various Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference governance groups, the WIAC Council of Chancellors have voted unanimously to suspend all winter sports competition through December 31, 2020.

The suspension includes the conference sports of men's and women's basketball, women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's swimming & diving, and wrestling.

Further, the WIAC will continue to gather information and monitor developments in order to best determine a competitive structure during the spring semester. At the same time, the WIAC is committed to providing an engaging and meaningful experience for student-athletes.

On July 27, the WIAC announced the cancellation of the conference seasons and championships in the sports of football, women's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's cross country. The WIAC seasons and championships in the sports of women's tennis and women's golf were moved to the 2020-21 spring semester.

UW-Oshkosh's 19-sport intercollegiate athletics program features nearly 550 student-athletes. UW-Oshkosh is the owner of 47 national championships, including 32 in NCAA Division III, and 197 WIAC titles.
