304 Titans Named To WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) recognized 304 UW-Oshkosh student-athletes for achieving a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher during the 2019-20 academic year.

UW-Oshkosh's selections to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll featured 167 student-athletes from its 11 women's teams and 137 from its eight men's squads. Student-athletes in multiple sports were counted only once.

UW-Oshkosh had 18 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA this past year – Olivia Campbell from women's basketball; Mitchell Bradford from men's cross country and track & field; Ashton Keene and Mariah Linse from women's cross country and track & field; Jason Myrick from football; Megan Footit from women's golf; Paige Mayhew and Baylee Tkaczuk from women's gymnastics; Madelaine Morris from women's soccer; Natalie Dillon and Amanda Mcilhany from softball; Jarrett Lieder from men's swimming & diving; Danielle Tesky from women's swimming & diving; Samantha Koppa from women's tennis; Emma Warr from women's track & field; Rebecca Brezen from women's volleyball; and Jordan Blanchard and Andrew Stengel from wrestling.

UW-Oshkosh had 29 additional student-athletes reach or surpass a 3.90 GPA. That group included Kameron Dransfieldt (3.962) from baseball; Abby Kaiser (3.965) from women's basketball; Melissa Srnka (3.934) and Elizabeth Reddemann (3.971) from women's cross country and track & field; Andrew Muskevitsch (3.969) and Ryan Dolnik (3.918) from men's cross country; Max Nowinsky (3.963) and Hunter Tank (3.917) from football; Erika Priebe (3.963) from women's golf; Alyssa Nore (3.967) and Kaira Hammond (3.955) from women's gymnastics; Sierra Koch (3.967), Leah Hujik (3.912) and Grace Hermann (3.904) from women's soccer; Kathryn Fontanetta (3.970) and Chloe Lambie (3.953) from softball; Cortney Claypool (3.968) and Sydney Challoner (3.959) from women's swimming & diving; Alyssa Leffler (3.970) from women's tennis; Eli Tranel (3.933) and Todd Beadle (3.927) from men's track & field; Sydney Thompson (3.937), Katie Fruth (3.906) and Erika Mullen (3.904) from women's track & field; Taylor Allen (3.976), Emma Kiekhofer (3.959) and Katherine Nottoli (3.901) from women's volleyball; and Luciano Valdez (3.967) and Raiden Montero (3.966) from wrestling. 

Overall, UW-Oshkosh's 482 student-athletes combined for a 3.201 GPA this past year to edge the school's general student population mark of 2.983. Members of the women's volleyball team blended together to compile a department-best 3.594 GPA while women's gymnastics followed at 3.547, women's golf at 3.528 and women's cross country at 3.470.

During the 2019-20 academic year, over 50 percent of the student-athletes competing in the WIAC achieved a 3.00 GPA or better.

Other UW-Oshkosh Athletics Academic Highlights

  • This is the highest student-athlete GPA ever recorded (3.201) since records began with the 1999-2000 academic year.  
  • This is the third straight year the student-athlete GPA is above a 3.0.
  • This is the first year male student-athlete GPA has ever surpassed the general student population's GPA (3.013 vs. 2.983).
  • This is the first year the male student-athlete GPA is above a 3.0.
  • This is the highest female student-athlete GPA ever recorded (3.433). 
  • Men's cross country, football, women's gymnastics, softball, women's swimming & diving, men's track & field and women's track & field recorded its highest GPA on record.  
  • Baseball, men's basketball, women's golf, women's soccer, and wrestling recorded its second highest GPA on record. 
  • Volleyball ranked no. 1 for the second year in a row.
