Bio

The first female inducted into the UW-Oshkosh Athletic Hall of Fame, Jean Mader has had notable success in high school, college and amateur athletics.

Mader demonstrated her athletic ability while attending Kimberly High School where she starred in three sports – volleyball, basketball, and track. During her three years as a member of the basketball team, Kimberly High School posted a 27-1 record.

Mader’s record as a member of three athletic teams at UW-Oshkosh is also unequaled. She earned four letters in each of three sports – volleyball, basketball, and softball.

In 1976 Mader received All-WWIAC basketball honors and led the Titans to a second-place finish at the AIAW Midwest Regionals. During her career she totaled 1,124 points grabbed 639 rebounds and led the Titans to a 48-14 record.

Her coaching record is impressive. Mader's girl's track team at Oshkosh North High School was conference and sectional champions in 1976. During the 1976-77 season she taught and coached at Merrill High School where her varsity girls basketball team was crowned regional champions. She returned to the Fox Valley Area to coach girls volleyball and track at Menasha High School from 1977-85. In the summer of 1985, Mader’s coaching and leadership abilities were recognized when she was named associate athletic director and head women's basketball and softball coach at UW-Platteville.
