Milton "Fritz" Lautenschlager, a member of the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame, died in Fond du Lac on Sept. 11, 2012.

Lautenschlager, 86, graduated from Oshkosh High School before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He married his high school sweetheart Patsy Ruth Oleson during 1947.

At UW-Oshkosh, Lautenschlager played football and basketball for the Titans. He earned his degree in teaching and remained involved with the university for the rest of his life. Lautenschlager was a board member and the president for the “National O Club” while also serving on the Alumni Association. He received the Titan Award for his 50 years in UW-Oshkosh athletics.

Both Lautenschlager and his wife, Pat, spent their professional careers as teachers in the Fond du Lac School District. He taught at Bragg Elementary School and Goodrich High School and was a member of the Wisconsin Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. Lautenschlager served as the assistant athletic director while also coaching basketball, baseball and football.

When first coming to Fond du Lac, Lautenschlager spent his summers managing the Taylor Park Pool, running the Easter Seal Society summer camp program, and taking graduate courses at UW-Oshkosh.
