Bio

The first male swimmer to be inducted into the UW-Oshkosh Hall of Fame, Chris Keefe is a man of firsts.

As a senior, Keefe ended an already brilliant swimming career at UW-Oshkosh by placing fifth at the 1975 NCAA Division III Championships in the 50-yard freestyle. In doing so, he became the first UW-Oshkosh athlete to compete at a national championship meet sponsored by the NCAA.

From 1971-75, Keefe earned NAIA All-America honors four times and swam to eight WSUC titles, including four consecutive 50-yard freestyle championships. He also won three conference 100-yard freestyle and one 100-yard backstroke titles.

Prior to attending UW-Oshkosh, the Oshkosh native swam with the local YMCA from 1961-71 and established a national record in the 50-yard freestyle his final season of competition.

Keefe, who is an active member of the UW-Oshkosh Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Oshkosh Chapter of the American Red Cross, is currently an employee with the U.S. Post Office in Oshkosh and owner of SEA Sports Unlimited, a business promoting safety, education and activities in aquatic sports.
