Titans Claim Two First Place Finishes and Break Two School Records

BROWN DEER, Wis.—Two school records fell and two Titans claimed first place finishes as the UW-Oshkosh Titans women's swimming and diving program competed at the 2023 WIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Francesca Schiro broke the school record in the 200 freestyle prelims, timing in at 1:53.68. Schiro broke the school record again in the finals, clocking in at 1:53.44 to claim the crown. The previous record was set in 2020, by Mariah Marowsky at 1:55.18.

Cadence Showalter broke the school record in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 57.71. Showalter broke the previous record by one second as Hannah Cunningham set the record in 2020 at 58.49.

Abbi Priestley claimed the top spot in the 1-meter diving, recording a dive score of 426.85.

Grace Fergus finished in the top-10 in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 1:00.63. Fergus competed in the 100 backstroke, Fergus clocked in at 1:02.77 for a top-15 time. In the 200 freestyle, Brianna Smith claimed a top-10 finish with a time of 1:59.52.

Schiro, Showalter, Smith, and Brianna Wesenberg clocked in at 1:39.38 in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Titans conclude action at the championships on February 18. Preliminary action starts at 10 a.m. with finals beginning at 6 p.m.
