Schroeder To Dive At NCAA Regional Championship

UW-Oshkosh's Bailey Schroeder will be among 26 contestants in the 1-meter category at Friday's (Feb. 25) National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Women's Region 1 Diving Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Competition begins at 7:30 p.m. (EST) from Calvin University's Venema Aquatic Center.

Schroeder, a freshman, will perform 11 dives Friday after qualifying for the regional through scores recorded during the 2021-22 season.

Schroeder finished first in the 1-meter diving during each of UW-Oshkosh's last six meets, including the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship held last weekend (Feb. 16-19) in Brown Deer.

Schroeder defeated 12 other divers at the WIAC Championship with her victorious and season-best score of 412.75. She became UW-Oshkosh's first conference 1-meter diving champion since Rachel Heitkamp in 2004.

Schroeder also posted winning 1-meter diving scores (11 dives) this season of 397.55 at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational on Nov. 13 and 409.85 at the Carthage College Classic on Dec. 4. She was the 1-meter diving winner (six dives) in UW-Oshkosh dual meets against Beloit College on Jan. 7, UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 14, UW-La Crosse on Jan. 22 and Ripon College on Feb 5.

Contestants from 16 schools (five different states) will vie for this year's Region 1 1-meter diving title. Schroeder and UW-Eau Claire's Sarah Dahlk are the only participants from the WIAC. Dahlk finished second to Schroeder with a score of 410.60 at last weekend's WIAC Championship.

In addition to the Region 1 (Central) meet in Michigan, three other Division III diving regionals will be held this weekend – Region 2 (Midwest/South/West) at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas; Region 3 (Northeast/North) at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.; and Region 4 (Northeast/South) at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

Each of the four regionals will have at least two of the 29 overall qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships that will be held March 16-19 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus in Indianapolis, Ind. At-large diving selections to the national meet are expected to be announced around March 1.
