Yineman Earns All-American Honors at NCAA Championships
ROANOKE, VA.—Beau Yineman and Luc Valdez wrapped up action on day one of the 2023 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
Yineman has earned All-American honors at the championships for the second straight year after earning honors last season.
At 197, Yineman defeated Jarrod Setliff of Otterbein University by a fall (2:43) before falling to Chibueze Chukwuezi (Ithaca College) in a 7-3 decision. In the consolation bracket, Yineman posted a major decision victory over Dylan Wellbaum of Adrian College to advance in the bracket. Yineman will wrestle Dylan Harr of Johnson and Wales University on March 11.
Valdez competed for the Titans at 125, falling to Zac Blasioli of Millikin University in a 5-2 decision. Valdez posted a 4-1 decision over Cade Odrobina of Albion College in a 4-1 decision before concluding action with a 9-4 decision loss to Gavin Bradley of Castleton University.
Action will continue at the NCAA Championships with the championship semifinals, consolation quarterfinals, semifinals, and third to seventh place matches at 10 a.m. Eastern.
