Valdez and Yineman Win Matches; Oshkosh Falls to Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.—Luc Valdez and Beau Yineman captured wins for the UW-Oshkosh Titans wrestling squad fell to UW-Eau Claire 37-6.

Valdez opened the match with a win for the Titans at 125. Valdez defeated Carter Schulz in a 6-0 decision to put the Titans up by three and improve to 8-5 on the year.

Yineman, who is ranked No. 2 nationally, defeated Sam Melton in a 10-3 decision at the 197 bout. Yineman improves his record to 10-1 this season.

In the 133 match, Denis Murphy took Tyler Fleetwood, ranked seventh in the nation, to sudden victory. Fleetwood went on to defeat Murphy 6-4.  

At 184, Zak Price was defeated by Niall Schoenfelder (No. 15 in the nation).

The Blugolds posted technical fall wins over Chandler Curtis (133, 17-0, 5:50) and Luke Moczynski (141, 15-0, 4:28). Colton Sund posted an 8-4 decision over Cody Welker at 157. Tristan Massie defeated Joey Spizzirri (Fall 2:25) at 165, while Jared Stricker (No. 8 nationally) defeated Will Dixon in a 7-1 decision at 174.

The Blugolds of Eau Claire take the Chancellor's Cup back after the Titans won the cup last season.

NWCA National and Regional Rankings

Yineman leads the team with five pins this season.  Yineman is ranked at No. 2 at 197 in the NWCA national rankings, released on Nov. 16.

In regional rankings, Yineman is ranked No. 2 in the Upper Midwest region at 197 by NWCA and Valdez is ranked No. 5 at 125 in the same region.

Valdez is a contender at 125 for the Titans. Preston Morgan (174) is ranked No. 10 while Yineman is No. 1 at 197. Curran is a contender for the Titans at 184.

The Titans take a two-week hiatus from the mat with no duals over the holiday week. The Titans return to action on Dec. 1 as they travel to UW-Stevens Point for a WIAC dual.
