Titans Hit the Road to Face Pointers

OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Oshkosh Titans women's basketball squad hits the road for a midweek game at UW-Stevens Point. The Titans (11-5, 2-4 WIAC) currently hold a seven-game win streak in the contest, having not dropped a game against the Pointers (10-7, 2-4 WIAC) since Feb. 14, 2018. 

The Titans average 62.3 points per game while the Pointers are sitting at 60.5 points per game. The Titans and Pointers sit next to each other on the defensive side of the ball. The Titans allow 56.4 points per game and the Pointers sit at 56.5 points per game. The Titans sit in the top-3 in team field goal percentage in the WIAC, sitting at 42% this season. The Pointers average 40.3 rebounds per game, sitting in the top-3 in the WIAC.

Previewing Oshkosh

The Titans are coming off a strong defensive battle as they defeated the UW-La Crosse Eagles on January 14 in Kolf Sports Center. Ava Douglas recorded a career-high 20 points as the Titans held the Eagles to 33% from the field.

Kayce Vaile leads the Titans with 11.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game. Jenna Jorgensen and Ava Douglas sit at 9.6 and 8.4 points per game, while Sarah Hardwick and Jorgensen average 4.4 and 4.3 rebounds per game. Douglas leads the team in assists per game (1.9).

Stevens Point Preview

The Pointers are led by Alexa Thomson and Jamie Pfeifer with 12.1 and 10.4 points per game. Thomson leads the Pointers with 8.1 boards per game and is joined by Gabby Gawlitta sits at 6.8 boards per game.

The Pointers have posted WIAC wins over UW-River Falls (Jan. 11, 54-49) and UW-Platteville (Dec. 3, 59-53). The Pointers have been on the road for three of four games are Wednesday's game is the last home game in January for the Pointers.
