Titans Set for WIAC Action against Blugolds and Falcons

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Returning to Kolf Sports Center for the first home game since November 30, the (RV) UW-Oshkosh Titans (9-3, 0-2 WIAC) are set to host No. 15/17 UW-Eau Claire Blugolds (11-2, 2-0 WIAC) on January 4 at 7 p.m.

The Titans will continue WIAC action on January 7, traveling to (RV) UW-River Falls (11-2, 1-1 WIAC). The Titans and Falcons are set for a 3 p.m. tip at the Don Page Arena. 

Outlook on Oshkosh

The Titans are riding a three-game winning streak, having posted victories over Roanoke College, WashU, and Ripon College. The Titans handed Roanoke their first loss of the season as the teams met at the Daytona Beach Shootout. 

Offensively, the Titans are averaging 63.4 points per game. The Titan defense is holding strong, allowing 55.4 points per game. The Titans are recording 33 rebounds per game, while earning 10.4 assists per game and six steals per contest. The Titans have the second-best team field goal percentage, at 42.9%.

Kayce Vaile leads the Titans with 12.3 points per game as Jenna Jorgensen joins Vaile in double-figure scoring at 10.2 points per game. Vaile leads the team in rebounding (8.7 per game) while Sarah Hardwick (4.9) and Jorgensen (4.3) join in the rebounding efforts. Ava Douglas and Kennedy Osterman lead the Titans in assists per game, averaging 2.1 and 1.8 per game. Vaile is second in the league for rebounding and sits at No. 7 in scoring per game.

Eyeing Eau Claire

The Blugolds of Eau Claire are coming off back-to-back wins at the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament. The Blugolds and Titans have posted victories over DePauw University (Ind.) in non-conference action. Leading the WIAC in scoring, the Blugolds are averaging 75 points per game and holding their opponents to 61.5 points. The Blugolds lead the WIAC in field goal percentage (44.6%), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.12), and assists per game (14.69).

Jessie Ruden leads the Blugolds and the WIAC in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game. Kylie Mogen and Tyra Boettcher joins Ruden in double-figure scoring at 11.2 and 10.5 points per game. Boettcher leads the rebounding efforts for the Blugolds and the WIAC at 8.7 rebounds per game and is joined by Mogen at six rebounds per game.

Previewing River Falls

The Falcons are averaging 70.6 points per game while the defense is allowing 54.5 points per game. The Falcons are grabbing 41.5 rebounds per game, nearly seven more than their opponents. The Falcons are second in the WIAC in scoring and margin of victory. The Falcons lead the WIAC in 3-point percentage (34.7%) and hold their opponents to just 26.2% from behind the line.

Macy Nilsen (14.2 points per game) and Zoey Buchan (11.4 points per game) lead the Falcons in scoring as Nilsen sits at No. 4 the league for points scored. Buchan leads the lead in 3-point field goal percentage at 55.8%. Nilsen leads the rebounding efforts with 6.4 rebounds per game and sits at No. 9 in the league for rebounding.
