Titans Set To Participate in NCAA North Regional Championship

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team is set to participate in the 36-team NCAA Regional Championship hosted by UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Nov. 11) at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.   

The 8,000-meter men's race begins at 11 a.m. with roughly 300 runners across 36 teams, five of which are nationally ranked.  

Nationally ranked teams include UW-La Crosse at number one and UW-Whitewater in the number four position.  

The top two teams will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship hosted in Newville, Pa. next Saturday (Nov. 18). 22 other teams will have the opportunity to receive at-large bids for the championship.  

UW-Oshkosh, which finished eighth at last year's Regional Championship, is expected to be led by Paul Proteau (So. • Riverside, Ill.), Jake Krause (Jr. • Hortonville), Cameron Cullen (So. • Kewaunee), Joe Kehoe (Sr. • Sun Prairie), Jason Ford (Sr. • Verona), and Dwight Hosni (Jr. • Cedarburg) on Saturday. In the WIAC Championship, Proteau placed 21st, Krause finished 33rd, Cullen in 35th, Kehoe placed 28th, Ford placed 80th, and Hosni in 55th place.  

Individually, the top seven finishers from each region not a part of the team qualifiers will also earn an invitation to the national championship.  

The top 35 finishers in the Division III North Region will receive all-region status.
