Madigan Leads Titans At Blugold Invitational

COLFAX, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's cross country finished 10th in the 25 team UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on Friday (Sept. 29) with 321 points.

Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) paced all Titan runners in the 8,000-meter varsity race with a 23:33 finish for 31st place.

Other Titans that contributed points were Josie Makurat (So. • Fairfax, Va.) with a time of 23:54 for 52nd, Jamie Catania (So. • Fond du Lac) with a time of 24:03 for 63rd, Zoe Watson (Fr. • Kiel) with a time of 24:33 and Gwen Feitl (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) with a time of 24:53 for 111th.

Fiona Smith of St. Benedict College (Minn.) won the individual varsity title in 20:21, followed by Hannah Preisser in 22:03 and Sophie McManus in 22:13. Preisser and McManus both ran for Carleton College (Minn.).

Carleton won the varsity team title with 40 points. St. Olaf College (Minn.) and UW-Eau Claire followed in second and third with 87 and 106 points, respectively.

The Titans took sixth in the open meet, scoring 169 points. Ella Galaszewski (So. • West Allis) led with an eighth place, 26:02 finish. She was followed by MacKenzie Dix (So. • Green Bay), Paige Hagner (Jr. • Mukwonago), Liv Schwarm (Jr. • Madison) and Julia Stasser (Jr. • South Milwaukee). Dix took 41st in 26:08, Hagner took 43rd in 26:10, Schwarm took 56th in 26:35 and Strasser took 74th in 27:11.

The Titans will return to action on Friday, Oct. 7 for the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's at noon.
