Buchinger Leads Women’s Cross Country to Team Title Win

CUBA CITY, Wis- Gracie Buchinger was one of seven top-20 placers for the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team at the UW-Platteville Gender Equity Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23). The Titans won the team title with 37 points at the Cole Acres Golf Course in Cuba City.

Buchinger ran a season-best 23:34.6 time for third place. Cyna Madigan followed in fourth place, finishing in 23:41.1. Rounding out top-10 place finishes for the Titans were Jamie Catania in seventh (24:08.6) and Josie Makurat in eighth (24:12.7).

Zoe Watson ran a 25:00.9 for 15th place as the final Titan runner to contribute points to the team's score. Gwen Feitl in 17th (25:08.6) and Emma Maly in 20th (25:31.9) rounded out UWO's top-seven finishers.

Lilly Alberts from Harper College (Ill.) and Ali Denamur from Ripon College took first and second, respectively, in the individual standings.

The Titans earned 37 points for first place in the meet. Ripon College took second with 56 points and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took third with 77 points.

The Titans will return to the course on Friday (Sept. 29) for the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. The meet will be held at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. The women will start at 5:15 p.m., following the men who will start at 4:15 p.m.
