Lehman and Potter Race in NCAA Cross Country Championships

LANSING, Mich.- Two members of the UW-Oshkosh cross country team raced in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at Forest Akers Golf Course in Lansing, Mich. on Saturday. This year's championships were hosted by Olivet College (Mich.) and the Greater Lansing Sports Authority.

Amelia Lehman ran in the women's 6K race, which began at 11 a.m. EST, taking 47th with a time of 22:49.9. Lehman qualified for the national meet as an individual at-large bid, with a 12th place, 22:35.4 time in the North Regional meet in Northfield, Minn., hosted by St. Olaf College on Nov. 12.

Johns Hopkins University (Md.) won the women's championship with 144 points, followed in the top-5 by the University of Chicago (Ill.) (147 pts.), Wartburg College (Iowa) (178 pts.), Carleton College (Minn.) (179 pts.) and SUNY Genesco (N.Y.) (198 pts.). Conference opponents UW-La Crosse (15th, 442), UW-Eau Claire (17th, 459 pts.) and UW-Stevens Point (31st, 869 pts.) also placed.

Earlier this season, Lehman finished 3rd in the WIAC Championship with a time of 23:13.2, 4th in the UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational, 6th in the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational with a time of 22:32.5 and 17thin the St. Olaf Invitational with a time of 23:30.

Steven Potter ran in the men's 8K race, which began at Noon EST, taking 113th with a time of 26:10.2. Potter also qualified for the national meet as an individual at-large bid with a 12th place, 24:55.2 time in the regional meet.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the men's championship with 82 points, followed in the top-5 by Wartburg (129 pts.), Genesco (168 pts.), John Carroll University (Ohio) (186 pts.) and Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) (193 pts.). Conference opponents La Crosse (8th, 276 pts), UW-Whitewater (10th, 365 pts.) and UW-Stout (23rd, 562 pts.) also placed.

Earlier this season, Potter finished 9th in the WIAC Championship with a time of 25:10.5, 17th in the St. Olaf Invitational with a time of 26:29, 24th in the Blugold Invitational and 26th in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational.
