Cich Guides Titans At Gene Davis Invitational

Tricia Cich earned UW-Oshkosh's top individual finish as the Titans placed fourth among seven programs at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Women's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 9) at the Reid Golf Course in Appleton.

Lawrence University captured the team title with 30 points while Ripon College finished second with 46, UW-Stevens Point third with 73 and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 99.

Listed behind UW-Oshkosh in the team standings were fifth-place Lake Forest College (Ill.) with 141 points, sixth-place Carroll University with 158 and seventh-place Beloit College with 193.

Cich led the Titans with her 12th-place time of 24:38.9 for the 6,000-meter race.

Cristyn Oliver of Lawrence University defeated the meet's 91 other runners with her winning time of 22:44.3. Madeline Morland of Lake Forest College placed second with a time of 23:29.6, Abby Parent of the Minnesota Running Club third in 23:38.0, Makaila Weddle of Ripon College fourth in 23:38.9 and Riley Winebrenner of Lawrence University fifth in 23:41.7. 

UW-Oshkosh, which rested several of its top runners, had five other contestants finish in the top 50 as Daisy Wilson placed 20th with a time of 25:09.6, Sydney Fricke 23rd in 25:19.7, Logan Krogwold 32nd in 25:57.3, Lauren Urban 36th in 26:10.8 and Julia Strasser 50th in 27:08.3.

Also crossing the finish line for the Titans were 51st-place Lauren Young in 27:20.0, 52nd-place Katelyn Puetz in 27:22.3, 58th-place Madison Bertram in 27:35.0, 63rd-place Olivia Schwarm in 27:47.7 and 74th-place Paige Larson in 29:16.9.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble next Saturday (Oct. 16) in Oberlin, Ohio.
