Lohrenz, Madigan Pace Fourth-Place Titans At Blugold Invitational

Hannah Lohrenz and Cyna Madigan paced UW-Oshkosh as the Titans finished fourth at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Women's Cross Country Invitational Friday (Oct. 1) at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.

Lohrenz ran to a third-place time of 22:12.78 on the 6,000-meter course while Madigan finished ninth in 23:03.25. The Titans had two other runners finish in the top 32 listings – Alexandria Demco who placed 23rd in 23:33.04 and Amelia Lehman who graded 32nd in 23:39.20.

A total of 378 runners competed at the site of this year's WIAC Championship and NCAA Division III North Regional, including Fiona Smith of the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) who registered a winning time of 21:37.28.

Clara Mayfield of Carleton College (Minn.) finished second to Smith with a time of 21:58.42 while Lohrenz placed third, Maria Laudenbach of UW-River Falls fourth in 22:28.28 and Katie Faris of UW-Eau Claire fifth in 22:39.95.

Other UW-Oshkosh individual results had Meygan Benzing finish 92nd in a time of 24:53.13, Sydney Fricke 100th in 24:59.53, Daisy Wilson 108th in 25:09.56, Tricia Cich 112th in 25:12.65 and Logan Krogwold 189th in 26:27.61.

UW-Oshkosh listed fourth among the 27 competing teams with 142 points.

Carleton College and UW-Eau Claire tied for the team title with 70 points while St. Olaf College (Minn.) finished third with 94, UW-Oshkosh fourth and the College of Saint Benedict fifth with 183. 

Concluding the top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-Stevens Point with 195 points, seventh-place University of Minnesota with 206, eighth-place Lewis & Clark College (Ore.) with 245, ninth-place UW-Stout with 253 and 10th-place Michigan Tech with 325.

Carleton College entered the meet ranked 17th in Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while UW-Eau Claire was 22nd and St. Olaf College 32nd.

UW-Oshkosh races next Saturday (Oct. 9) at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational in Appleton.
