Moore Collects Another WIAC Cross Country Athlete Of The Week Award

UW-Oshkosh's Cheyenne Moore has been named the WIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

Moore, who also received the award for the period of Sept. 4-10, earned her latest recognition for meets held Sept. 18-24.

Moore battled through temperature in the mid-80s to win the Maroon Division of the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23 in Falcon Heights, Minn.

Moore, who finished ninth in last year's race, completed this year's 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:55. She defeated 167 other runners, including UW-Oshkosh teammate Ashton Keene who placed 16th with a time of 24:58.

Carleton College (Minn.) captured the team title after placing three of its runners among the top five finishes. The Knights had Emily Kaegi finish second with a time of 22:27, Amanda Mosborg fourth in 23:41 and Helen Schuda fifth in 23:42. Abigail Fouts of UW-River Falls placed third with a time of 23:31.

Carleton College ranked first in the 12-team field with 26 points. The Knights were followed by second-place University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with 67 points, third-place UW-River Falls with 82, fourth-place UW-Oshkosh with 129 and fifth-place Macalester College (Minn.) with 144.
