Titans Rank 16th At NCAA Championship

Cheyenne Moore's 45th-place run helped UW-Oshkosh finish 16th at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship held Saturday (Nov. 19) at the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

UW-Oshkosh, which received an at-large berth into the 32-team championship after finishing fourth at last Saturday's (Nov. 12) Midwest Regional held at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, totaled 450 points for its 23rd top 16 national finish in school history. The Titans finished 15th at last year's national championship held at the Lake Breeze Golf Club with 467 points.

Johns Hopkins University (Md.) scored 128 points to coast to its fourth NCAA team title, all in the last five years. The 202 points from second-place Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) followed the Blue Jays.

State University of New York at Geneseo finished third in the team standings with 214 points while defending champion Williams College (Mass.) placed fourth with 232 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology fifth with 234.

Completing the top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-La Crosse with 272 points, seventh-place State University of New York at Oneonta with 299, eighth-place Tufts University (Mass.) with 320, ninth-place Calvin College (Mich.) with 347 and 10th-place Hope College (Mich.) with 376.

Assisting Moore in forming UW-Oshkosh's team score were Kristen Linzmeier, Erica Munyan, Ashton Keene and Leah Rendflesh. Linzmeier finished 102nd with a time of 22:00 while Munyan placed 105th in 22:01, Keene 174th in 22:26 and Rendflesh 229th in 22:55. Last year at the national championship, Munyan finished 164th, Rendflesh 185th and Linzmeier 244th.

The Titans also had Michelle Draxler finish 263rd with a time of 23:38 and Jessica Stamn 271st in 24:11.

Amy Regan of Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) defeated 279 runners to win the individual title with a time of 20:17. Audrey Miller of Loras College (Iowa) finished second with a time of 20:32 and Maya Weigel of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) third in 20:42.

The top 35 runners earned All-America accolades by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
