Titans To Make 27th Appearance At NCAA Championship

UW-Oshkosh received one of 16 at-large berths into the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship that will be held Saturday (Nov. 19) at the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

The Titans will be making their second straight and 27th overall appearance at the national meet.

UW-Oshkosh finished fourth with 125 points at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional held last Saturday (Nov. 12) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne. The top two teams from each of eight regionals secured automatic bids into the 32-team national field while 16 at-large berths were reserved for teams not qualifying automatically.

Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) tallied 66 points to capture its third straight Midwest Regional title and eighth overall. UW-La Crosse finished second in the team standings with 81 points while the University of Chicago (Ill.) placed third with 124. The University of Chicago also earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Championship.

Cheyenne Moore led the Titans at the Midwest Regional by completing the 6,000-meter course with a fourth-place time of 21:56 while Kristen Linzmeier finished 13th in 22:16 and Erica Munyan 15th in 22:20.

Three Titans will return to the NCAA Championship for a second time as Munyan finished 164th, Rendflesh 185th and Linzmeier 244th in 2015.

UW-Oshkosh, which won national titles in 1987, 1988, 1991 and 1996, placed 15th at last year's NCAA Championship.

Also qualifying for the national meet from the Midwest Region were Erin Artz and Taylor Domro from St. Norbert College, Callie Fischer and Morgan Marek from UW-Eau Claire, Jackie Schane from Aurora University (Ill.), Natasha Zanoya from Edgewood College and Chelsey Heiden from UW-Platteville.

LaMere and Matt Wubben from UW-Platteville, Tanner Osing from Augustana College, Miletti from UW-Oshkosh, Daniel Borash from UW-River Falls, Devin Sauvola from UW-Stout and Brett Harms from UW-Whitewater. They were the highest individual finishers (top seven) from a team not qualifying for the championship.

Tyler Miletti will be UW-Oshkosh's lone representative in the men's division of the NCAA Championship. He earned an automatic berth into the event after finishing 13th at this past Saturday's Midwest Regional. Miletti was a 141st-place finisher at last year's NCAA Championship.
