Schwind Leads Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open

Ashlyn Schwind was UW-Oshkosh's top finisher during a women's cross country meet the Titans hosted on Friday (Oct. 21) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Schwind placed seventh among the meet's 43 runners in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 26:09. Schwind and Breanna Van Den Plas, who finished 15th with a time of 26:36, were the only UW-Oshkosh participants in the meet.

Katherine Holbrook of Maranatha Baptist University captured the individual title with a time of 24:16. Sara Fuller of UW-Whitewater finished second in 25:38, while Janelle Ferguson of UW-Platteville placed third in 25:39, and Sarah Vander Pluym and Kimberly Richerson of Maranatha Baptist University fourth in 25:41 and fifth in 25:50, respectively.

Maranatha Baptist University took the team title with 43 points. UW-Stevens Point finished second with 50 points, while UW-Whitewater ranked third with 54 and UW-Platteville fourth with 75.

UW-Oshkosh rested nearly all of its runners in preparation of next Saturday's (Oct. 29) WIAC Championship in Stevens Point.
