Titans Finish Sixth At Hoffman Invitational

Michelle Draxler finished 22nd individually to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team to a sixth-place showing at the Tom Hoffman Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 17) in Whitewater.

UW-La Crosse, which had the top five individual finishers, won the 12-team meet with 15 points to easily outpace runner-up Edgewood College's total of 73. Carroll University placed third with 95 points, followed by UW-Stevens Point in fourth place with 112, UW-Whitewater in fifth with 147 and UW-Oshkosh in sixth with 160.

Draxler paced the Titans on the 6,000-meter course with a time of 25:31. Also counting toward UW-Oshkosh's point total were 34th-place Jessica Stamn in a time of 26:23, 46th-place Amanda Van Den Plas in 27:09, 48th-place Tayah Cunningham in 27:16 and 78th-place Ashlyn Schwind in 28:29.

UW-La Crosse's Sarah Ziolkowski defeated the field of 144 runners with a time of 23:02. She was followed to the finish line by teammates Kaitlyn McDaniel in second place (23:16), Sadie Kroll in third (23:24), Ellen Smith in fourth (23:30) and Elizabeth Frick in fifth (23:36).

The Titans also had Breanna Van Den Plas finish 83rd with a time of 28:52 and Allie Broeniman 89th in 29:15.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Falcon Heights, Minn., for the Roy Griak Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 24).
