Titans Win Griak Invitational Title

UW-Oshkosh placed three runners in the top 10 individual finishes and won the Maroon Race of the Roy Griak Women's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 24) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

Erica Munyan paced the Titans by finishing fifth among the 214-runner field while Cheyenne Moore was ninth and Ashton Keene 10th. Munyan completed the 6,000-meter course with a time of 24:22, Moore in 24:52 and Keene in 24:53.

UW-Oshkosh, which also won the Roy Griak Invitational in 2010 and finished fourth in 2014, scored 69 points to edge the 75 by runner-up St. Olaf College (Minn.).

Alss finishing among the top five squads in this year's 14-team field were third-place University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with 80 points, fourth-place Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) with 109 and fifth-place Macalester College (Minn.) with 135.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place Concordia University Wisconsin with 165 points, seventh-place UW-River Falls with 184, eighth-place North Central College (Ill.) with 201, ninth-place St. Catherine University (Minn.) with 204 and 10th-place Hamline University (Minn.) with 228.

Maya Weigel from Pomona-Pitzer Colleges won the individual title with a time of 23:12. Kimber Meyer from Macalester College was second in 23:57, Alex Fossum from the University of St. Thomas third in 24:15, Nora Imperl from Concordia University Wisconsin fourth in 24:18 and Munyan fifth.

UW-Oshkosh received additional scoring efforts from Kristen Linzmeier and Leaf Rendflesh, who placed 12th in 24:57 and 34th in 25:53, respectively.

The Titans also had Michelle Draxler finish 58th with a time of 26:34, Jessica Stamn 100th in 27:37 and Amanda Van Den Plas 130th in 28:39.

UW-Oshkosh races at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Sept. 30) in South Bend, Ind.
