Titans Place Sixth At Midwest Open

UW-Oshkosh placed three runners among the top 28 finishes during its season-opening performance at the Midwest Women's Cross Country Open held Saturday (Sept. 10) in Somers.

Cheyenne Moore led the way for Titans by completing the 5,000-meter course in a 24th-place time of 19:27. UW-Oshkosh teammates Erica Munyan finished 25th in 19:30 and Kristen Linzmeier 28th in 19:37. Munyan placed 40th and Linzmeier 78th during last year's meet.

NCAA Division I Marquette University swept the top three individual listings as Kellie Greenwood finished first in 17:47, Brittney Feivor second in 17:52 and Jennifer Parker third in 18:09. Moriah Palmer of NCAA Division II UW-Parkside placed fourth in 18:22 and Melissa Winchester of NAIA Aquinas College (Mich.) fifth in 18:49.

UW-Oshkosh finished sixth among the 13 squads in the team competition with 158 points. Marquette University captured the team title with 29 points, while UW-Parkside placed second with 77, Aquinas College third with 84, NCAA Division I Wright State University (Ohio) fourth with 92 and NCAA Division I UW-Milwaukee fifth with 117. NCAA Division II Michigan Tech finished seventh with 218 points.

Completing UW-Oshkosh's list of scorers were Ashton Keene and Leah Rendflesh. Keene finished 36th with a time of 19:46 and Rendflesh 50th in 20:09.

Also finishing among the meet's top 100 runners were 78th-place Cammy Garvelink in 20:59, 82nd-place Hannah Thorn in 21:09, 92nd-place Amanda Van Den Plas in 21:27 and 100th-place Michael Welsh in 21:51.

Other UW-Oshkosh competitors at the meet were Jessica Stamn, Tayah Cunningham and Breanna Van Den Plas. Stamn finished 103rd with a time of 21:56, while Cunningham placed 106th in 22:07 and Van Den Plas 129th in 23:36.

A total of 138 runners completed the race.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, participates at UW-Whitewater's Tom Hoffman Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 17).
