MADISON, Wis.- The second-ranked UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball squad set the WIAC win streak record with wins over Edgewood College and Wheaton College (Ill.) at Edgewood's Todd Wehr Edgedome on Saturday (Nov. 4).

The Titans (32-0, 7-0 WIAC) swept Edgewood (19-10, 12-1 NACC) in scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-19 and beat Wheaton (10-15, 1-7 CCIW) in scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-11.

UW-Oshkosh broke the 31-year old league record of 31 wins in their first match of the day. UW-Platteville set the record in 1992, winning 31-straight between Nov. 9, 1991, and Oct. 24, 1992.

The Titans hit .289 against the Eagles in the triangular opener with 47 kills on 114 total attacks. Sami Perlberg (Fr. • Chippewa Falls) led with 14 kills on 31 attacks for a .258 percentage followed by Riley Kindt (Sr. • Brookfield) with 12 on 22 for a .455 percentage. Oshkosh caught back up with the Eagles after allowing Edgewood to score the first three points of the match on kills from Perlberg, Kindt and Maddy Pearson (Sr. • Kimberly). The Titans later built up an 11-point lead with five-straight to score their 20th point. Edgewood decreased the deficit to eight points on a Robyn Kirsch (Jr. • Wausau) attack error before Kindt served two points to take the set.

The Titans pulled away in the second set with seven points for a 15-7 lead. They again increased their lead to 11 points with a later four-point spurt capped off by two Perlberg kills. After the Eagles scored their 11th point, Oshkosh went on a 4-1 run bookended by Kindt kills for the second set win.

Down 4-0 early, the Oshkosh clawed back within a point on a three-point spurt served by Perlberg and later took the lead during a 6-1 run that ended at 16-13. A Kindt service error allowed the Eagles within a point before Oshkosh went 7-2 for the rest of the set including a four-point run. Perlberg scored the Titans' final two points with kills.

Kindt led Oshkosh in the third set with 15 kills on 24 attacks for a .583 percentage. Izzy Coon (So. • Fond du Lac) recorded 18 assists, followed by Mau with 17. Fregien registered 23 digs.

Oshkosh held the lead from the first point of the first set. They went on four runs of at least three points and won by 10 points, they're largest lead of the set.

The Thunder scored first in the second set, however Perlberg and Hannah Moe (So. • Oconto) hit back-to-back kills to get the Titans the lead back. Four-straight points separated Oshkosh from Wheaton, making the score 16-11. The Thunder never got back within three points and the match ended on a Thunder service error.

The Titans will return to the Kolf Sports Center on Thursday (Nov. 9) to face the winner of the winner of the No. 5 vs. No. 4 match at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round of the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's).
