No. 13 Titans Beat No. 22 Albion in Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill.- The No. 13 nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team won over No. 22 Albion College in their first game of the Elmhurst University Invitational, making fourteen wins in a row for the team.

The Titans (24-4, 5-1 WIAC) defeated the Britons (21-4, 5-1 MIAA) in sets of 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19.

Riley Kindt led the Titans with 16 kills and seven block assists, good for 19.5 points. Carissa Sundholm added 15 kills and 16 digs to her season. Kalli Mau had 27 assists.

The Titans took the first set 25-21. They started the scoring early, going up 1-0 with a kill from Kindt. After a finishing a 4-0 run with a kill by Sundholm to put the Titans up 6-4, the Britons never came back to within 1. Kindt finished the set with six kills and Abby Fregien had seven digs.

Oshkosh kept it going with a win in the second set. After going down 8-11, the Titans went on a 5-0 run to take the lead with kills from Sundholm and Joslyn Wolff. Albion got up to a 15-18 lead before losing it in another Titans rally, this time of six points. After securing a 21-18 lead, Oshkosh never looked back, winning the set 25-20. Kindt and Wolff each had three kills, and Mau had an ace to go with three digs and four more assists.

The Britons fought back the third set, winning 23-25. The Titans took an early 3-1 lead, but Albion went on a run of their own, scoring three to take the lead for the first time in the set. The teams traded points, staying within three of each other for the rest of the match before the Britons broke a 20-20 tie on a kill from Ja'Nyece Larry. The Titans were back within one two more times in the set, but never tied it back up. Sundholm finished the set with five kills and Mau had seven assists. Kindt had two blocks.

The Titans ended the match in the fourth set with a 25-19 score. The Titans went down early with a 1-3 deficit but tied it back up and traded points with the Britons until they finally went up by more than three went on a 5-1 run to end the match. Sundholm had three of the five points with three kills in the run. Mau had another six assists, Kindt had five blocks, Wolff added three more and Sundholm added another two on top of five kills and seven digs.

The Titans return to action tomorrow in Elmhurst, to take on the Carthage College (Wis.) Firebirds at 10 a.m. and the Elmhurst University (Ill.) Bluebirds at 2 p.m.
