Ranked Titans Return Home To Host UW-La Crosse

OSHKOSH, Wis.–The newly nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team makes its long-awaited return to Kolf Sports Center on Wednesday (Oct. 5), when it hosts UW-La Crosse. First serve of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match is set for 7 p.m.

UW-Oshkosh (18-4, 2-1 WIAC), ranked 21st in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, has played its previous 11 contests away from home. The Titans, riding a seven-match winning streak and hosting a match for the first time since Sept. 13, went 10-1 during their road stretch that began Sept. 16 in Ohio and included trips to Platteville, Chicago and a pair of treks to Stevens Point.

Highlighting the Titans' seven-match winning streak were a 3-1 victory at 13th-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Sept. 30) and a 3-0 sweep of 16th-ranked Augsburg University (Minn.) on Saturday (Oct. 1) in Stevens Point. The lone Titans loss since Sept. 13 was a 3-1 setback at Ohio Northern University that extended the Polar Bears' home winning streak to 28 matches.

UW-Oshkosh has won three of its last four meetings with UW-La Crosse, including a 3-2 decision at home during the first round of the 2021 WIAC Tournament.

The Titans currently lead the country in total kills, assists and digs while ranking fourth nationally in total blocks. UW-Oshkosh is back in the AVCA top 25 for the first time since the 2017 preseason poll. The Titans' most recent regular season appearance in the top 25 was the final 2016 AVCA poll.

UW-Oshkosh's Abby Fregien is the division leader in total digs and paces the WIAC in digs per set. Just one player across all three NCAA divisions – Jaedynn Evans from Division II's University of Central Oklahoma – has registered more than Fregien's 433 digs on the year.

Riley Kindt is eighth in the nation in total blocks for the Titans. Amelia Hust, who ranks third on the squad in digs, is the conference leader in service aces.

Other UW-Oshkosh leaders include Carissa Sundholm and Kindt in kills, Kalli Mau and Izzy Coon in assists, and Kindt and Riley Dahlquist in both hitting percentage and blocks.

UW-La Crosse (8-9, 1-2 WIAC) enters Wednesday on the heels of a 3-0 home win over Buena Vista University (Iowa) on Saturday.

Brianne Korducki and Gabrialla Johnson lead the Eagles offense in kills.

Following Wednesday's home match, UW-Oshkosh is idle until playing a pair of matches Tuesday (Oct. 11) in Wheaton, Ill.
