UWO To Play Nationally Ranked Pointers, Auggies

The UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team will put its five-match winning streak on the line when it travels to Stevens Point for contests against nationally ranked teams Friday and Saturday (Sept. 30-Oct. 1).

UW-Oshkosh plays at Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival UW-Stevens Point on Friday before battling Augsburg University (Minn.) on Saturday in Stevens Point.

UW-Stevens Point (13-2, 1-1 WIAC) and Augsburg (12-1) are ranked 13th and 16th, respectively, in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll. UW-Oshkosh (16-4, 1-1 WIAC) is receiving votes in the AVCA poll.

UW-Oshkosh's Carissa Sundholm is the reigning WIAC Offensive Player of the Week following a stretch in which she produced a career-best performance against University of Chicago (Ill.). Sundholm established a career high with 29 kills, matched a career best with 18 digs and added three blocks against the Maroons as part of UW-Oshkosh's impressive five-match winning streak. Just six Titans have ever notched more kills in a match than Sundholm did against Chicago.

The Titans head into the week leading the division in total kills and digs while listing third nationally in total blocks. Abby Fregien is the Division III leader in total digs for UW-Oshkosh. Titan Riley Kindt ranks seventh in the country in total blocks and Sundholm is ninth in total kills.

UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point have split the last six meetings in the series. The Titans slipped past UW-Stevens Point, 3-2, a year ago. UW-Oshkosh is seeking to avenge a 3-1 setback against Augsburg last season.
