Hust, Kindt, Sundholm Receive All-WIAC Accolades

Freshman middle blocker Riley Kindt and sophomore outside hitter Carissa Sundholm were named to the First Team to headline UW-Oshkosh's selections to the 2021 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Team.

Sundholm has produced a team leading 330 kills this season to go along with 219 digs while Kindt has added 316 terminations, a squad best .268 hitting percentage and 87 blocks to earn their spots on the 12-member All-WIAC First Team.

UW-Oshkosh freshman libero Amelia Hust, who leads the conference and ranks 11th in the NCAA Division III with 555 digs, was named to the 10-member All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team. Senior setter Emma Kiekhofer represented the Titans on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Hust, Kindt and Sundholm each received All-WIAC recognition for the first time as the Titans have compiled a 19-11 record entering their WIAC Championship semifinal match Thursday (Nov. 4) at league regular season winner UW-Eau Claire (27-3).

Joining Kindt and Sundholm on the All-WIAC First Team were UW-Eau Claire's Kendra Baierl, Arianna Barrett and Charlie Nelson; UW-La Crosse's Emma Lawrence; UW-Platteville's Kaite Asche; UW-Stevens Point's Ashley Kopp; and UW-Whitewater's Morgan Jensen, Erin McNeil, Morgan Wardall and Jenna Weinfurt.

UW-Eau Claire's Baierl was voted WIAC Offensive Player of the Year while UW-Whitewater's Jensen was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. UW-Stevens Point's Kopp was chosen as the conference's Newcomer of the Year. WIAC Coach of the Year honors went to UW-Eau Claire's Kim Wudi.

Sundholm has led the Titans in kills 19 times this season while recording double-digit point totals on 22 occasions and notching six double-doubles. Sundholm, hitting .194 on the year in addition to collecting 40 blocks and 22 service aces, pounded down season bests of 17 kills at both Concordia University Wisconsin on Oct. 13 and UW-River Falls during the regular season finale Oct. 29.

Sundholm reached season bests of 19.5 points (17 kills, 2.5 blocks) at UW-River Falls and at Carthage College on Oct. 16 with 16 kills, two service aces and 1.5 blocks. Sundholm produced double-doubles against University of Chicago (Ill.) (11 kills, 13 digs) on Sept. 25, UW-Platteville (16 kills, 11 digs) on Oct. 6, Concordia University Wisconsin (17 kills, 13 digs) on Oct. 13, Carthage College (16 kills, 13 digs) on Oct. 16, UW-River Falls (17 kills, 14 digs) on Oct. 29 and UW-La Crosse (16 kills, 14 digs) during the WIAC Tournament first round Tuesday (Nov. 2).

Kindt has been the UW-Oshkosh kills leader 15 times on the year, including with a season high 18 against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Sept. 17 and 16 terminations against both Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (Calif.) on Sept. 4 and Augsburg University (Minn.) on Sept. 18. Kindt has hit .250 or better during 19 matches this season, registering a season high .571 hitting percentage with a season best 22 points (18 kills, three blocks, one service ace) versus Gustavus Adolphus College and again Oct 6 against UW-Platteville with 15 kills on 21 swings.

Kindt produced a double-double with 12 kills and a season high 10 digs at UW-River Falls on Oct. 29. Kindt also had season bests of eight blocks versus Edgewood College on Sept. 11 and Cornell College (Iowa) on Oct. 23.

Hust has paced the UW-Oshkosh backrow defense in digs 25 times in 30 matches this year and leads the team with 42 service aces. Hust, who scooped up a season high 32 digs against Edgewood College on Sept. 11, recorded 29 digs against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Sept. 4, and 27 digs against St. Norbert College on Sept. 8, North Park University (Ill.) on Oct. 16 and Carthage College on Oct. 16. Hust's six service aces at UW-Stout on Oct. 15 established a season best.

Fourth seeded UW-Oshkosh continues its season tonight (Nov. 4) with a WIAC Tournament semifinal at top seeded UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds are ranked 10th in the country by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
