Volleyball Trio Ranked Among The Nation's Statistical Best

Nerissa Vogt, Mandy Trautmann and Lexi Thiel ranked high among the national leaders as the UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team finished the 2015 season in the top 50 in several statistical categories.

Vogt, a middle blocker, ended her junior season ranked third in the NCAA Division III with 169 blocks and eighth with 1.31 blocks per set. Lauren Holt from Springfield College (Mass.) topped both categories with 192 blocks and 1.68 per set.

Trautmann, a senior libero, listed 11th in the division with 700 digs and 21st with 5.65 digs per set, while Thiel, a junior setter, was 26th with 1,207 assists.

As a team, UW-Oshkosh ranked fourth in the nation with 322 blocks, seventh with 2.39 blocks per set, 25th with 2,307 digs, and 35th with 1,607 kills and 1,477 assists. Austin College (Texas) led the country with 349 blocks, while the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) paced the nation with 2.39 blocks per set.

Vogt appeared in 34 matches (129 sets) this season and listed second on the team with 315 kills. She registered eight or more kills 25 times and at least four blocks on 23 occasions.

Vogt recorded 16 kills and 12 blocks during a five-set win over Cornell College (Iowa) on Oct. 3 and 15 kills and 11 blocks during a five-set victory over Illinois Wesleyan University on Oct. 16. She also notched a career-high 18 kills during a five-set triumph over UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 6.

Vogt has totaled 818 kills and 404 blocks in her 105-match (381 sets) career.

Trautmann capped her 141-match (524 sets) career with 2,646 digs, including a Division III-leading 833 in 2013. Her career total ranks second to Christina Cahoon's 2,753 (2007-10) in both school and WIAC history.

Trautmann, who finished second on the team with 83 assists and 27 service aces, amassed double-figure dig totals during 31 of her 33 matches (124 sets) played this season, including 18 contests with 20 or more digs. She led the WIAC in both digs and digs per set (5.65) this season.

Trautmann set a school record with 47 digs – the third highest total in WIAC history – in a five-set loss to UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 6.

Trautmann's career also included 236 assists and 120 service aces.

Thiel played in 34 matches (131 sets) this season and ranked second on the squad with 305 digs and 69 blocks.

Thiel compiled 11 double-doubles this year, including a season-best 58 assists and 14 digs in a five-set win over the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on Oct. 17. She also registered 38 assists, 12 digs and a season-high eight blocks against Cornell College.

In her first three seasons, Thiel has recorded 2,287 assists, 589 digs, 247 kills and 155 blocks in 102 matches (370 sets) played.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the 2015 season with a 26-9 record. The Titans compiled a 6-1 WIAC record to share the league's regular-season title with UW-La Crosse. The conference championship was the 12th for UW-Oshkosh.
