Malcheski Selected To All-WIAC Volleyball First Team

UW-Oshkosh outside hitter Katelyn Malcheski was among 13 players named to the 2013 All-WIAC Women's Volleyball First Team.

Malcheski led UW-Oshkosh with 383 kills. She also racked up 80 digs and 59 blocks. Malcheski had her best match during a sweep of Eastern Connecticut State University on Nov. 1, when she totaled 19 kills and 0 hitting errors. Malcheski recorded double-digit kills 20 times this season.

Last year, Malcheski compiled 268 kills, 71 digs and 44 blocks while receiving All-WIAC honorable mention recognition.

Jordyn Bratel and Mandy Trautmann both earned All-WIAC honorable mention status.

Bratel finished the year with 276 kills and 62 blocks. For her 116-match career, Bratel attained 897 kills, 555 digs and 169 blocks.

Trautmann topped the conference with 649 digs. She also totaled 71 assists, 25 service aces and 16 kills. Against Saint Mary's University (Minn.), Trautmann recorded 41 digs and four assists.

Trautmann played in 38 matches last year, marking 464 digs, 44 service aces and 22 assists.

The All-WIAC First Team featured four players from UW-Whitewater with Kim Frei, Alivia Holman, Kelsey Nobilio and Kristen Ruchti. UW-Stevens Point had Emma Brunkhorst, Allison Davis and Alexis Hartman recognized. The remaining members were UW-Eau Claire's Kelly Schuh and Lauren Sutherland, UW-La Crosse's Lauren Probst, UW-Platteville's Stephanie Kirchner and UW-River Falls' Jean Theis.

Trautmann was named with four other players to the league's All-Defensive Team. The group also included Nobilio, Sutherland and UW-Stevens Point's Hannah Picel.

Hartman earned WIAC Player of the Year, while Kirchner was named the winner of the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award. UW-Stevens Point's Abby Sutherland received Coach of the Year.
