Krumplitsch, Malcheski Named All-WIAC Honorable Mention

UW-Oshkosh's Larissa Krumplitsch (Sr. • Appleton) and Katelyn Malcheski (Fr. • Little Suamico) have been named to the 2012 All-WIAC Women's Volleyball Team as honorable mention selections.

A total of 24 players were recognized by the conference, including 12 as first-team honorees. The first-team selections included
setter Emily Neave and outside hitters Amy Bomgren and Anne Satterlee of UW-Eau Claire and outside hitter Leanna Lillge, libero Kelsey Nobilio and middle hitter Kristen Ruchti of UW-Whitewater. Satterlee was chosen as the league's Player of the Year.

 

Other first-team members were middle blocker Morgan Bartowiak and setter Alex Hartman of regular-season champion UW-Stevens Point, middle hitter Erin Green and setter Mackenzie Suda of UW-River Falls, middle hitter Stephanie Kirchner of UW-Platteville and outside hitter Kate Mikutowski of UW-Stout.

 

Krumplitsch, a middle blocker, appeared in 143 of the Titans' 146 sets and ranked eighth in the WIAC with 120 blocks and 16th with a .220 hitting percentage. She also compiled 318 kills, 32 service aces and 15 assists. Krumplitsch had 15 kills and five service aces, both season-bests, against UW-River Falls on Oct. 27. Her 462-set career included 751 kills, 308 blocks, 224 digs and 38 service aces.

 

Malcheski, an outside hitter, participated in 114 sets and posted a .220 hitting percentage with 268 kills. She also recorded 71 digs and 44 blocks. Malcheski tallied a season-high 17 kills against UW-Superior on Oct. 5 and 16 against Wartburg College (Iowa) on Sept. 29.

 

Nobilio and liberos Robyn Eggert (Jr. • Woodridge, Ill.) of UW-Oshkosh, Courtney Preiner of UW-River Falls and Hannah Picel of UW-Stevens Point were selected to the All-Defensive Team.

 

Eggert played in 136 sets and ranked second in the WIAC with 719 digs. She had a season-best 32 digs in matches against St. Norbert College on Sept. 11, Carthage College on Oct. 12 and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Oct. 20. Eggert also totaled 86 assists, 33 service aces and 13 kills during the season.

 

Stacey White of UW-Stevens Point was picked as the Coach of the Year.

 

The Titans ended the season with a 20-19 record, including a fifth-place 3-5 mark in the WIAC.
