Titans Fall To North Park In Final Dual

CHICAGO, Ill.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team was defeated, 7-2, in its last regular season dual on Saturday (April 20) at North Park University (Ill.).

The Titans (10-4, 3-3 WIAC) claimed the No. 3 doubles match and No. 6 singles match against the Vikings (13-5, 6-2 CCIW), who took the remaining seven matches.

Jameson Gregory (Fr. • Delavan) and Kayla Gibbs (Fr. • Muskego) delivered an 8-6 victory in the No. 3 doubles against Ella Darrow and Maddie Starr, while Courtney Carpenter (So. • Oshkosh) defeated Kate Vinson (6-1, 6-1) in the No. 6 singles.

In the remaining doubles matches, Olivia Pethan (Fr. • Oshkosh) and Alysa Pattee (Jr. • Waupun) were outscored by Hanna Zethraeus and Carla Cazes, 8-6, in the No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 doubles position, Alexandra Ristfeldt and Katarina Carlberg swept Ella Nguyen (So. • Oshkosh) and Carpenter, 8-0.

In the singles matches, Pethan fell to Zethraeus (6-2, 6-1) in the No. 1 singles, Pattee was shutout (6-0, 6-0) in the No. 2 singles by Ristfeldt, Nguyen was defeated by Carlberg (6-1, 6-0) in the No. 3 singles, Gibbs dropped the No. 4 singles to Cazes in scores of (6-2, 6-1), and Hannah Stitt (Sr. • Baldwin) lost to Starr in the No. 5 single position (6-1, 6-1).

The Titans will return for the WIAC Team Championship hosted at UW-Whitewater on Saturday (April 27). The team owns the No. 4 seed from its performance at the 2023 WIAC Women's Tennis Championship in October. The Titans will be joined by UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, and UW-Whitewater in a chance to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
