Titans Sweep Wisconsin Lutheran College In Spring Opener

JACKSON, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sunday (Mar. 3) at the Pheasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson.

The Titans (9-3, 3-3 WIAC) claimed all three doubles matches over the Warriors (7-5, 7-2 NACC). Olivia Pethan (Fr. • Oshkosh) and Alysa Pattee (Jr. • Waupun) outscored Katelynn Haskell and Ali Schmidt, 8-4, in the No. 1 doubles. In doubles match No. 2, Ella Nguyen (So. • Oshkosh) and Courtney Carpenter (So. • Oshkosh) defeated Izzy Hawley and Sky Pope with an 8-7 victory. Jameson Gregory (Fr. • Delevan) and Kayla Gibbs (Fr. • Muskego) delivered a score of 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles to best Haley Olson and Maddy Olson.

In the singles contest, Pethan started the No. 1 singles by outscored Haskell (6-2, 6-3), Pattee followed in the No. 2 singles with a win over Schmidt (6-1, 6-4), Nguyen brought the No. 3 singles to three round and defeated Hawley (2-6, 6-2, 10-7), Gregory posted a victory over Pope (6-3, 6-3) in the No. 4 singles, Gibbs topped Haley Olson in the No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-2), and Hannah Stitt (Sr. • Baldwin) claimed the No. 6 singles win against Maddy Olson (6-0, 6-2).

The Titans will return home to play Lakeland University on Saturday, April 13. The matches will start at 3 p.m. at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts.
