Titans Suffer Setback At UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis.–UW-Stevens Point defeated UW-Oshkosh, 9-0, in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis dual Friday (Oct. 7) at University Courts in Stevens Point.

UW-Stevens Point (7-2, 2-2 WIAC) moved into fourth place alone in the league standings while UW-Oshkosh (5-3, 1-3) fell one spot to fifth. Both UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point have two conference duals remaining before the WIAC Championship commences Oct. 22 in Madison.

The Pointers has now won three straight matchups with the UW-Oshkosh after the Titans won seven consecutive meetings in the series from 2014-19.

UW-Stevens Point received doubles victories by Tristin Jantz and Quinlyn Mack over UW-Oshkosh's Alysa Pattee and Alexandra Schmoldt (8-5) at No. 1, Barbara Covek and Jenna Koepp over Courtney Carpenter and Jenna Nolde (8-1) at No. 2, and Abigail Ashley and Chloe Leithold over Cordelia Damkot and Louisa Damkot (8-5) at No. 3.

In singles action the Pointers got wins by Mack over Pattee (6-2, 6-1) at No. 1, Jantz over Schmoldt (6-1, 6-4) at No. 2, Faith Leithold over Louisa Damkot (6-1, 6-0) at No. 3, Covek over Cordelia Damkot (7-5, 6-3) at No. 4, Maya Kunze over Nolde (6-2, 6-0) at No. 5, and Chloe Leithold over Hannah Stitt (6-2, 6-2) at No. 6.

UW-Oshkosh concludes the regular season schedule with a pair of road WIAC duals next weekend as the Titans travel to UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 15 and UW-Stout for the finale Oct. 16.
