Titans Fall To Eagles In Final Home Dual

OSHKOSH, Wis.–UW-Oshkosh's Cordelia Damkot won at No. 4 Singles as the Titans fell, 8-1, to UW-La Crosse during a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis dual Wednesday (Oct. 5) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.

Damkot improved to 7-0 on the year in singles play during duals after defeating UW-La Crosse's Ani Bulbulian in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Damkot's victory was the first by a Titans against the Eagles since 2013.

UW-La Crosse (4-2, 3-2 WIAC) won the remaining eight matches Wednesday to earn its 15th consecutive dual win over UW-Oshkosh (5-2, 1-2), which entered the contest with the program's best start since also going 5-1 in duals to begin the 2017-18 campaign.

The Eagles received doubles wins from Kellie Hierl and Katie Kerney over UW-Oshkosh's Alysa Pattee and Alexandra Schmoldt (8-3) at No. 1, Bulbulian and Susi Hu over Courtney Carpenter and Jenna Nolde (8-5) at No. 2, and Izzy Schmiesing and Kate Townsend over Cordelia and Louisa Damkot (8-2) at No. 3.

In singles play UW-La Crosse got wins by Hierl over Pattee (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1, Hu over Schmoldt (6-0, 6-1) at No. 2, Kearney over Louisa Damkot (6-0, 6-2) at No. 3, Townsend over Nolde (6-2, 6-0) at No. 5, and Emma Heinert over Hannah Stitt (6-1, 6-1) at No. 6.

UW-Oshkosh, which hosted for the final time this regular season Wednesday, travels to UW-Stevens Point for a dual Friday (Oct. 7).
