Warhawks End Titans' Win Streak At 4

OSHKOSH, Wis.–Fifteen-time defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion UW-Whitewater defeated the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team, 8-1, during the Titans' league opener Wednesday (Sept. 28) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.

UW-Whitewater (4-0, 3-0 WIAC) swept all three doubles matches Wednesday and won five of the six singles contests during a meeting of unbeaten squads.

UW-Oshkosh (4-1, 0-1 WIAC), which won a match versus the Warhawks for the first time since 2016, entered the day with the program's best start since winning seven duals to open the 2012-13 season.

Cordelia Damkot accounted for the Titans' lone win at No. 4 Singles, downing Faith Nosek 6-3 in the first set before a default concluded the match. Damkot improved to 5-0 in singles play during duals on the year.

In doubles action UW-Whitewater's Autumn Bruno and Cassie Lee defeated Alysa Pattee and Alexandra Schmoldt (8-4) at No. 1, Day and Kellie Ha downed Courtney Carpenter and Jenna Nolde (8-1) at No. 2, and Nosek and Gracie Ha slipped past Cordelia Damkot and Louisa Damkot (8-4) at No. 3.

UW-Whitewater's singles wins came from Lee over Pattee (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1, Kasey Schlicht over Schmoldt (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2, Kellie Ha over Louisa Damkot at No. 3, Molly Asfeld over Nolde (6-0, 6-1) at No. 5, and Day over Hannah Stitt (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6.

UW-Oshkosh remains at home to host WIAC rival UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 1) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.
