UWO Tennis Shuts Out Marian, Improves to 4-0

OSHKOSH, Wis.–The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team dropped just five games in doubles play and 13 during singles action on the way to downing Marian University, 9-0, on Friday (Sept. 23) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.

UW-Oshkosh, which improved its record to 4-0 in dual matches this season, is off to its best start since winning seven in a row to open the 2012-13 campaign. The Titans have now won each of their 11 meetings with Marian since 1992.

In doubles play Friday, Alysa Pattee and Alexandra Schmoldt defeated Abby Okon and Katrina Pokorny (8-3) at No. 1, Courtney Carpenter and Jenna Nolde bested Julia Loomans and Aeryn Olson (8-2) at No. 2, and Cordelia Damkot and Louisa Damkot breezed past Melana Brunton and Madeline Chimenti (8-0) at No. 3.

In singles action UW-Oshkosh got wins by Pattee over Olson (6-3, 6-1) at No. 1, Schmoldt over Okon (6-3, 6-3) at No. 2, Louisa Damkot over Pokorny (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3, Cordelia Damkot over Julia Loomans (6-0, 6-1) at No. 4, Nolde over Brunton (6-0, 6-0) at No. 5, and Hannah Stitt over Chimenti (6-1, 6-1) at No. 6.

UW-Oshkosh remains unbeaten in the top four flights of singles during dual matches this season.

The Titans host 15-time defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion UW-Whitewater on Wednesday (Sept. 28).
