Falcons Slip Past Titans

Jenna Nolde and Michelle Spicer were winners in both singles and doubles play during UW-Oshkosh's 5-4 women's tennis loss to UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 2) in River Falls.

Nolde teamed with Spicer to defeat Kailey Courteau and Chloe Struss, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles before recording a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Struss at No. 3 singles. Spicer followed her doubles win with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Courteau at No. 1 singles.

UW-Oshkosh (0-5, 0-3 WIAC) received its remaining team point from Alyssa Pattee at No. 2 singles. Pattee was a 6-2, 6-1 victor over the Falcons' Alexis Budzinski.

UW-River Falls (1-6, 1-2 WIAC) held a 2-1 lead through the doubles competition after wins from Budzinski and Abbie Reed in the second flight and Erin Gallion and Emma Heinert in the third. Budzinski and Reed defeated Pattee and Hannah Stitt, 8-7, while Gallion and Heinert ousted Alessandra Rivera and Jade Schwichow, 8-0.

The Falcons earned their other three team points during the singles portion of the match. Winning by 6-0, 6-0 results for UW-River Falls were Heinert over Stitt in the fourth flight, Gallion over Rivera in the fifth and Karyn Duddeck over Schwichow in the sixth. 

UW-Oshkosh challenges Ripon College (5-6) on Thursday (Oct. 7) in Ripon.
