Titans Tame Sabres

Bailey Sagen was a winner at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team defeated Marian University, 8-1, on Thursday (Sept. 6) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

Sagen defeated Meg Hartzell of the Sabres, 4-6, 6-2 (10-8), and paired with Hannah Peters to trounce Hartzell and Mackenzie Meyers, 8-2.

Kelley Hodyl, Samantha Koppa and Lesley Kutnink were also double winners for UW-Oshkosh (1-1).

Hodyl posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Emma Lewandowski at No. 4 singles and teamed with Kutnink to tally an 8-3 result over Brenda Ordonez and Alyssa Ostrowski at No. 3 doubles. Kutnink also won a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Kyrsten Bruce at No. 3 singles.

Koppa earned her multiple victories at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. She defeated Meyers, 6-0, 6-4, and combined with Alyssa Leffler to shut out Bruce and Lewandowski, 8-0.

The Titans also had Monica Micoliczyk post a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kristin Houle at No. 5 singles.

Marian University (0-2), which has lost its last seven contests to UW-Oshkosh, received its lone team point from Andrea Krahenbuhl at No. 6 singles. Krahenbuhl was a 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) victor over the Titans' Hannah Nauth.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Green Bay on Sunday (Sept. 10) to play St. Norbert College.
