Women’s Tennis Program Collects All-Academic Status

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis program was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as one of its All-Academic Teams for the 2016-17 season.

In addition to the team being recognized, UW-Oshkosh's Annie Docter, Paige Ganser, Samantha Koppa, Monica Micoliczyk and Hannah Peters were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Programs received the ITA All-Academic Team award after compiling a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) during the 2016-17 academic year. All varsity letter winners (including fall 2016 and spring 2017) were factored into the overall team GPA.

As a team, UW-Oshkosh recorded a 3.435 grade point average. UW-Oshkosh was among 237 NCAA Division III schools recognized by the ITA, including UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, register a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) during the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Docter is a sophomore psychology major who compiled a 3.850 GPA. She finished fifth in No. 4 singles at the WIAC Championship and concluded the season with records of 6-8 in singles play and 1-6 in doubles action.

Ganser is a junior physical education major who posted a 3.712 GPA. She ended the season with records of 3-5 in singles play and 1-4 in doubles action.

Koppa is a freshman elementary education major who registered a 3.638 GPA. She finished fourth in No. 5 singles at the WIAC Championship and concluded the season with records of 15-9 in singles play and 15-17 in doubles action.

Micoliczyk is a freshman pre-veterinary medicine major who achieved a 3.512 GPA. She finished sixth in No. 6 singles at the WIAC Championship and concluded the season with records of 7-13 in singles play and 2-3 in doubles action.

Peters is a sophomore nursing major who assembled a 3.959 GPA. She finished fourth in No. 3 singles at the WIAC Championship and concluded the season with records of 7-18 in singles play and 10-19 in doubles action.

UW-Oshkosh's five award winners were among 1,364 recognized from NCAA Division III schools. The list of scholar-athletes also included eight from UW-Whitewater and five from UW-La Crosse.
