Titans Defeat Vikings For Fourth Straight Win

UW-Oshkosh won its fourth straight women's tennis match with an 8-1 victory over Lawrence University on Sunday (Oct. 2) at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts.

The Titans (5-1) earned the win by taking all six singles contests and two of the three doubles matches. The performance gave UW-Oshkosh its 19th victory over Lawrence University (5-4) in 23 decisions.

UW-Oshkosh's Bailey Sagen captured the No. 1 singles bout with her 7-6, 5-7 (10-8) triumph over Katie Frankel, while Alyssa Leffler gave the Titans the win at No. 2 singles with her 4-6, 6-4 (11-9) decision over Lindsey Holsen. Leffler also teamed with Samantha Koppa to tally an 8-2 victory over Annie Harincar and Alicia Lex at No. 2 doubles.

Koppa and Hannah Peters had little trouble during their UW-Oshkosh victories at No. 5 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Koppa defeated Alexis Shannon, 6-1, 6-1, while Peters ousted Elana Lambert, 6-2, 6-0.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Annie Docter in the fourth flight and Monica Micoliczyk in the sixth. Docter posted a 6-2, 6-1 result over Harincar and Micoliczyk a 6-3, 6-1 decision over El Goblirsch.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory came at No. 3 doubles, where Hannah Nauth and Ashlee Polena defeated Lambert and Shannon, 8-3.

Lawrence University took the No. 1 doubles contest as Frankel and Holsen edged Peters and Sagen, 9-8.

UW-Oshkosh will host nine-time defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Tuesday (Oct. 4) at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts.
