Titans Fend Off Green Knights

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team won two of the three doubles contests and held on for a 5-4 victory over St. Norbert College on Sunday (Sept. 18) in Green Bay.

UW-Oshkosh (3-1) clinched its narrow victory with Alyssa Leffler's 6-2, 6-1 decision over Meg Witt at No. 5 singles. Leffler earlier teamed with Samantha Koppa to record an 8-5 win over Anna Gosz and Ashley Randazzo at No. 2 doubles.

The Titans won the No. 1 doubles contest as Hannah Peters and Bailey Sagen defeated Witt and Elizabeth Manlick, 8-3. Manlick collected some revenge later in the match by posting a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Sagen at No. 1 singles.

St. Norbert College (7-4) captured the win at No. 3 doubles as Stephanie Doerfert and Katlyn Gahan ousted Annie Docter and Paige Ganser, 8-2.

Other individual winners for UW-Oshkosh were Ganser in the second flight and Koppa in the sixth. Ganser defeated Gosz, 6-1, 6-3, while Koppa overpowered Doerfert, 6-1. 6-2.

The Green Knights, who have lost 16 of their last 23 matches to the Titans, also picked up individual wins from Gahan in the third flight and Randazzo in the fourth. Gahan defeated Peters, 6-3, 6-1, while Randazzo ousted Docter, 6-2, 6-4.

UW-Oshkosh will send several players to the ITA Midwest Regional this weekend (Sept. 23-25) in St. Peter, Minn.
