Titans Register Win over Falcons

Alyssa Leffler won all 12 of her games during singles play to help the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team defeat UW-River Falls, 7-2, on Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts.

Leffler turned in the Titans' best individual effort by posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anna Ebensperger at No. 4 singles. Leffler also teamed with Samantha Koppa to record an 8-2 win over Brittany Asfeld and Krista Haglund at No. 2 doubles.

Koppa was impressive in her individual match as well. She lost only one game during a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Hannah Andress at No. 5 singles.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1, 1-1 WIAC) took the No. 1 singles match as Bailey Sagen defeated Asfeld, 6-1, 6-3. Sagen also partnered with Hannah Peters to tally an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.

UW-Oshkosh completed its list of individual winners with Peters and Annie Docter. Peters defeated Haglund, 6-3, 6-0 in the second flight while Docter ousted Molly Deering, 6-4, 6-4 in the third.

UW-River Falls (0-4, 0-2 WIAC) received its lone individual victory from Karli Helland. She took the win with her 6-2, 3-6 (10-2) result over Monica Micoliczyk in the sixth flight.

The Falcons also obtained an 8-4 victory from Andress and Helland at No. 3 doubles. The UW-River Falls picked up the win by defeating Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena.

UW-Oshkosh plays its third match in as many days by visiting St. Norbert College on Sunday (Sept. 18).
