Titans Have Little Trouble With Red Hawks

UW-Oshkosh lost just 13 games as it rolled to a 9-0 victory over the Ripon College women's tennis team on Tuesday (Sept. 6) in Ripon.

The Titans won 72 of their 83 games in singles play, including 6-0, 6-0 victories from Alyssa Leffler over Madeline Salzer in the fifth flight and Samantha Koppa over Lily Lenk in the sixth.

In doubles action, UW-Oshkosh (1-0) took 24 of 26 games from the Red Hawks (0-3).

The Titans received a pair of 8-0 wins as Koppa and Paige Ganser defeated Samantha Kiesner and Carly Wesner in the second flight while Monica Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena ousted Lenk and Salzer in the third.

Bailey Sagen gave UW-Oshkosh the win at No. 1 singles by defeating Maddie VandenHouten, 6-4, 6-0. Sagen also teamed with Hannah Peters to post an 8-2 victory over VandenHouten and Morgan Maker at No. 1 doubles.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Ganser in the second flight, Peters in the third and Annie Docter in the fourth. Ganser and Peters both won by 6-2, 6-1 scores, with Ganser defeating Maker and Peters ousting Kiesner. Docter cruised past Wesner by a 6-0, 6-1 result.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts UW-La Crosse on Sept. 16 at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts.
