Titans Double-Up Eagles

UW-Oshkosh swept all three doubles matches and hung on to defeat Edgewood College, 6-3, in a women's tennis meet held Sunday (April 17) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Courts in Oshkosh.

UW-Oshkosh (4-7), playing at home for the first time since Oct. 17, has won all six meetings with Edgewood College (14-9) in a series that began in 2008.

The Titans secured narrow victories in each of the three doubles matches before clinching the meet win with triumphs in two of the first three flights of singles play.

The UW-Oshkosh No. 1 doubles team of Paige Ganser and Bailey Sagen beat the Eagles' Anna Miles and Morgan Wilson, 8-5, to improve their record to 9-7 on the season.

The Titan duo of Hannah Nauth and Shauna Stoffregen snuck past Jaclyn Swift and Marissa Wilson, 8-6, in the second flight of doubles, while UW-Oshkosh's Annie Docter and Ashlee Polena downed Rhea Bradley and Haley Brooks, 8-5, in the third flight.

Sagen won her match at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Morgan Wilson before Edgewood won its first match at No. 2 singles when Miles beat Ganser, 6-1, 6-3.

The Titans wrapped up the meet victory when Stoffregen defeated Swift, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.

Docter won her first singles match as a Titan, 6-2, 6-2, over Brooks in the fourth flight.

Edgewood College closed out the meet with singles wins by Marissa Wilson over Polena (6-4, 6-3) in the fifth flight and Bradley over Nauth (6-3, 6-2) in the sixth flight.

UW-Oshkosh hosts Marian University on Thursday (April 21) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
