Titans Pull Out Narrow Win Over Blue Devils

Paige Ganser earned the fifth and decisive victory as the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team edged UW-Stout, 5-4, on Friday (Oct. 16) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

UW-Oshkosh (3-5, 3-2 WIAC) rallied to take a 4-3 lead before Ganser clinched the Titans' eighth straight victory over the Blue Devils (4-6, 1-4 WIAC) with her 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Emma Pedersen at No. 2 singles.

Ganser also took part in UW-Oshkosh's lone victory during the doubles competition. She teamed with Bailey Sagen to record an 8-2 win over Angela Braun and Emma Pedersen in the first flight.

Sagen accounted for another UW-Oshkosh victory with her 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Braun at No. 1 singles.

UW-Stout led the Titans, 2-1, on wins by Anna Lano and Linsey Thisius in the second flight and Danielle Lutz and Kelsey Pedersen in the third of the doubles competition. Lano and Thisius defeated Sophie Pitz and Shauna Stoffrefgen, 8-6, while Lutz and Kelsey Pedersen ousted Paige Kloth and Hannah Noth. 8-4.

Other UW-Oshkosh individual winners were Pitz in the third flight and Stoffregen in the fourth. Pitz came back for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Thisius, while Stoffregen marked a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Kelsey Pedersen.

UW-Stout's remaining individual wins came from Lano in the fifth flight and Katie Kreibich in the sixth. Lano slipped past Ashlee Polena, 7-6 (7), 5-7, 6-3, while Kreibich defeated Kloth, 6-4, 6-3.

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex. The match closes the Titans' fall home schedule.
