Eagles Sweep Titans

UW-La Crosse won all nine singles and doubles contests, including three without losing a game, during its victory (9-0) over the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team on Thursday (Oct. 15) in La Crosse.

The Eagles (7-1, 5-1 WIAC) recorded a pair of shutouts during the doubles competition as the tandems of Bridget Bellissimo and Kimmy Mrozek in the first flight and Alaina Bublitz and Samantha Fleming in the third won by 8-0 scores. Bellissimo and Mrozek defeated Paige Ganser and Bailey Sagen, while Bublitz and Fleming ousted Paige Kloth and Hannah Nauth.

Jennifer Graham and Sadie Spahn completed UW-La Crosse's sweep of the doubles matches with their 8-5 win over Sophie Pitz and Shauna Stoffregen in the second flight.

In singles play, Hayley Clope earned UW-La Crosse's remaining shutout with her 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ashlee Polena in the fifth flight.

UW-Oshkosh (2-5, 2-2 WIAC) received its best individual result from Stoffregen, who lost a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Spahn in the fourth flight.

UW-La Crosse took the No. 1 singles contest as Bellissimo defeated Sagen, 6-1, 6-1.

Other individual winners for the Eagles were Mrozek in the second flight, Graham in the third and Fleming in the sixth. Mrozek defeated Ganser, 6-0, 6-1, while Graham ousted Pitz, 6-0, 6-2. Fleming tallied a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kloth.

UW-Oshkosh plays its next two matches at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts, beginning with Friday's (Oct. 16) against UW-Stout.
